Magic Box: Force Friday II – Spin Master Hero Droid BB-8

Day 3 of Force Friday II product coverage is upon us, and it’s the biggest of the three days we had planned, by quite a large margin.  The Spin Master Hero Droid BB-8 is the largest interactive toy we’ve ever gotten our hands on.  It’s also one of the most fun and life-like toys we’ve ever played with.  Check out the video for all the fun we had with BB-8, and think of all the fun you can have with him too!

Spin Master Hero Droid BB-8

  • Spin Master’s Hero Droid BB-8 Fully Interactive Droid is available from Amazon on a 2-4 month waiting period for $229.99.
  • Walmart has the droid up for for $229.99 as well, but it’s out of stock.
  • He’s MASSIVE!
  • He features lights, sounds, and interactions from Star Wars movies.
  • BB-8 has 3 modes:
    • RC Mode – BB-8 can be controlled with the included remote in RC mode.
    • Follow Mode – BB-8 can be put into follow mode, where he will follow you around and interact with you and his surroundings.
    • Voice Command Mode – BB-8 also responds to speech.  Check out the video for all the phrases we tried!
  • BB-8 has 3 separate pieces, the body, the head, and the controller.  Each need to be on the same frequency.  The head and body charge by wire, the remote control requires 3 triple A batteries.
  • BB-8’s head attaches by magnet, that means, like with other RC and rolling BB-8 toys, the head can get knocked off if it hits something, so be careful and give BB-8 tons of room to move around.
  • Yes…the head does fall off.  He even gets a little upset about it.  Just pick it up and put it back on….Droid Please!
  • Leaving BB-8 in Voice Mode (controller switch to center, droid head and body on), let’s BB-8 roam around and behave any kind of way…it’s amazing…it’s even more amazing if you have pets.

At $229, BB-8 carries a big price tag, but MUReview and litlgeeks love it and it is definitely a value at that price!  There is so much to do and try with BB-8, and while storing it is going to be a little bit of a challenge, the memories he will make in our house can’t be measured!  BB-8 is out now, happy hunting!

This video and post is for entertainment purposes only. | BB-8 is recommended for ages 6 and up.
